What does pop culture tell us about cultures in general?

Pop culture is universally liked and ardently followed, including ideas, perspectives, attitudes images and other phenomena that are within the mainstream of a given culture. It can be simply defined as a common way of life practiced and followed by many people.

Firstly, these ideas, attitudes, actions, etc., can reflect and permeate public opinions, also, easily affect us in our daily lives. We may unconsciously adopt some popular beliefs during everyday life and become supporters of a certain culture. By knowing some popular ideas conveyed in the society, we can also get to know the mainstream opinions and beliefs of people, which will be beneficial for us when we want to learn the culture of a country.

What’s more, pop culture can reflect the main pursuit and preference of people in the society. Take China as an example. In the 1980 s, with the cultural recovery of China, many college students eagerly read Freud’s books, and in the 1990 s, young people were keen on Gu Cheng and Bei Dao’s poems, all of which once became a popular benchmark. In today’s society of China, one of the most popular culture is Draft culture. Many TV shows are made to select great young idols to satisfy public preference.

American country music can be considered as one of the most popular pop cultures in America. American country music is a genre of music especially in the southern region of the U.S. and the music is sung with a southern accent. For the origins of American country music is that it was introduced into the U.S. from other parts of the world— the emigrants from Europe brought their own instruments and own music about 300 hundred years ago. West African musical traditions brought into the region by slaves , and this kind of music is also known as country music now in America.

There are some notable musicians who have emerged recent years. From Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood to Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan and from Miranda Lambert and Chris Young to Jake Owen and Justin Moore, country's contemporary musicians are taking the world by a storm.

Taylor is one of the most famous and popular American country music singers in China.

Willie Nelson is an accomplished musician and one of the most popular names of the late 20th century American country music.

Basically, country music can express people’s feelings, to some extent, country music highlights the way of how people live of a particular community, as well as helps with developing other kinds of music.
